Cover Supervisor
Required: September 2018
Band 3 - mid, Point Range 17-21 (dependant on experience)
32.5 hours per week
Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm (term time only)
(Actual salary £13,559 - £14,917 per annum)
The King John School in Benfleet is a heavily oversubscribed 11-18 mixed comprehensive of over 2000 students, of which approx. 420 are in the sixth form. As a school our Progress 8 measure places us in the top 25% of the country. Over 76% of our students achieved a standard pass in English and mathematics at GCSE (Grade 4 or above) and we are recognised by the Department for Education for our proactive promotion of the English Baccalaureate within our curriculum. Our A-level results have been exemplary, with over 60% of year 13 students gaining A* - B grades in all of their subjects. The school enjoys an excellent reputation, having received a letter from the Director of Education in September commending the school on the 'fantastic' results this year. The school has also been graded at the end of September 2013 as 'Outstanding' across all key areas.
The role would be an excellent starting point for any candidate wishing to pursue a career within teaching and wishes to progress and apply for ITT after a year, as the school is part of the Benfleet Teaching Alliance.

We require a part time Cover Supervisor to supervise whole classes, who will undertake pre-set work during the absence of teachers. The role also involves supervising students in 1:1 and small group intervention situations when not used in the capacity of a cover supervisor; supervising school clubs, students working in the Curriculum Plus Centre, and occasional invigilation. Applicants will need to have a minimum of GCSE English & maths Grade C or equivalent, although a degree would be desirable, a sound academic background, including a working knowledge of ICT. Successful recent experience working with children of the relevant age and previous classroom experience is desirable but not essential.
