An opportunity has arisen to join the GROW provision based at Parkwood Academy.

If you have the skills and previous experience this may be for you. You will need to have bags of energy, patience and resilience and be able to work in a small team. This is a wonderful opportunity to be involved in the launch of the GROW provision at Parkwood Academy and work with children with social and emotional wellbeing difficulties and provide the best possible outcomes for all our children. As part of the role you will provide midday supervision during the lunchtime period. Working Monday to Friday 32.5 hours per week to start in September or earlier by arrangement.

GROW is an alternative education provision for a small number of children KS1 or KS2 who are not progressing in their current school because of the barriers caused by behaviour, emotional needs or social difficulties.

GROW provides each child with a curriculum planned for their individual needs. All plans are monitored and regularly reviewed.

Children will work within the designated GROW space and within an identified mainstream class in the school when appropriate.

The successful candidate will need to:

  • Have good literacy and numeracy skills with GCSE Literacy and Numeracy grades A-C.
  • Be educated to NVQ Level 3 in learning support / early years or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Have experience working with a child in a school / early years' environment.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have the ability to overcome communication barriers with children and adults.
  • Understand and support the importance of social and emotional wellbeing.
  • Be adaptable to work within a small specialised team supporting the children of the school with various needs.
  • Have good organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Have the ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Be prepared to develop and learn in the role.
  • Experience is desirable.
