Finance & Personnel Manager, Chapel Hill Primary School & Nursery
Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Permanent: Term-time, plus 10 days
Salary: Scale 6 Points 14 - 18 (dependent upon experience) - £22,989 - £23,739 per annum, before any applicable deductions

Chapel Hill Primary School & Nursery is expanding and we are looking for an exceptional Finance & Personnel Manager to grow with us.
Opened in September 2024, Chapel Hill is a modern, ambitious and rapidly developing school with a strong commitment to providing exceptional opportunities for every child. As our pupil numbers continue to grow and our school community expands, we are seeking to appoint an outstanding Finance & Personnel Manager to make a key contribution to the effective financial, administrative and operational management of the school.
You will play a key role in ensuring that our resources, people and systems are managed effectively and that the school is in the strongest possible position to continue to grow and succeed.
Working closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, you will have responsibility for the day-to-day management of the school's financial and personnel functions. You will provide accurate, timely and professional advice, ensuring that robust systems, effective controls and high standards of compliance are maintained.

The role
As Finance & Personnel Manager, you will have responsibility for the effective day-to-day management of the school's finance and personnel functions.
You will:
- Manage the school's day-to-day financial administration, ensuring accurate and timely financial records are maintained.
- Monitor income, expenditure, budgets and commitments, providing clear financial information to the Headteacher and Trust
- Support the preparation and monitoring of the school's annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Ensure robust financial controls and procedures are consistently followed.
- Process purchase orders, invoices, payments and income in accordance with school and Trust procedures.
- Monitor expenditure and identify opportunities for effective and efficient use of school resources.
- Prepare regular financial reports and information for the Headteacher, Trust and Governors as required.
- Liaise with the Trust finance team, suppliers, auditors and other external agencies.
- Oversee payroll administration, ensuring that monthly payroll information is accurate and submitted within required deadlines to the Trust Chief Financial Officer.
- Manage personnel administration, including contracts, staff records, changes to employment, absence and leave (supported by the Trust's HR Manager).
- Support recruitment and onboarding processes, ensuring that appropriate safer recruitment and pre-employment checks are completed.
- Maintain accurate, confidential and up-to-date personnel records.
- Support the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team with personnel and staffing matters.
- Ensure that financial, personnel and administrative systems comply with relevant legislation, Trust policies and school procedures.
- Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality, data protection and information security.
- Support the effective management of school contracts, subscriptions and purchasing arrangements.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of financial and personnel systems as Chapel Hill continues to grow.
- Be willing to undertake a range of duties that contribute to the smooth, efficient and successful running of our school.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Financially astute and highly organised, with experience in finance, payroll, HR/personnel or business administration.
- Experienced in budget management, financial processes and accurate record-keeping.
- Confident, IT proficient and analytical, with strong Microsoft 365 skills and the ability to work with financial and database systems.
- Trusted to handle confidential information with discretion, integrity and professionalism.
- Resilient, proactive and solutions-focused, with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience within a school, academy or Trust environment would be advantageous, but we welcome exceptional candidates from other professional settings.
- Ambitious and committed, with the drive to make a genuine contribution to the continued success and development of Chapel Hill.

The person we are looking for offers:
- Experience of working within a school office or education setting would be advantageous, although we are equally interested in exceptional candidates from other professional office environments who can demonstrate the skills, leadership and personal qualities required for this pivotal role.
- Previous experience of managing or leading a team is essential.
- Knowledge of school systems such as Arbor/SIMS, attendance systems and Microsoft Office/365 would be desirable, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
