Assistant to School Business Manager
Essex Scalepoint 6-7
£25,989- £26,403 plus inner Fringe (before pro-rata) 30 hours per week (over 4 or 5 days) - term time only
6 month fixed term contract

As the Assistant School Business Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operational, financial and administrative management of the school. Working closely with the School Business Manager, you will support with finance, payroll and administrative services. As well as be a liaison between staff, parents & external contractors.
This is a varied and hands-on role, perfect for someone looking to build a career in school business leadership or an experienced administrator looking for their next step.
Key Responsibilities
Finance: Lead on placing & processing orders using school finance software. As well as the reconciliation of school purchases, whilst adhering to financial audit requirements & controls. General administration: Support the Business Manager with any financial related tracking and administration of school schemes such as "chromebooks for all scheme"
Trip support: Engage with trip leaders to administer, track parent payments & pupil data to ensure that trips are financially viable & operationally sound
Parent liaison: Communicate with parents in relation to overdue payments & balances
Payroll: Support the Business Manager to ensure that monthly hours & expenses are processed accurately & efficiently
Reception support: Daily reception support to cover lunch breaks, busy periods and sickness
We are looking for someone who is proactive, resilient, and quick to learn new systems. Ideally, you will have:
Experience: Background in school administration, finance, HR, or business support (experience in an educational setting is desirable).
Skills: Strong IT literacy and exceptional organizational skills (experience with Iplicit, Arbor & Parentpay or similar school software is a plus)
Communication: Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with staff, pupils, parents and external contractors.
Mindset: A flexible, "can-do" attitude with a strong ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
