We are seeking a driven and analytical Finance Apprentice to join our central team. In this role, you will gain hands-on, real-world experience while working directly towards achieving a prestigious Level 6 Finance Apprenticeship.
As our Finance Apprentice, you won't just be watching from the side-lines. You will have "full ownership" of specific finance functions while assisting the broader team with high-level reporting.
Your core tasks will include:
Ledger Management: Managing the purchase ledger, raising sales invoices, and actively resolving supplier and customer queries.
Banking & Systems: Processing bank payments via Civica Financials, sending out remittances, and securely banking cash and cheques.
Financial Reporting: Assisting with crucial monthly and year-end reporting, including bank reconciliations, credit card processing, and VAT returns.
Data Analysis: Utilizing MS Excel formulas and pivot tables to analyse financial reports against key business KPIs and offering clear commentary on your findings.
Operational & Audit Support: Processing staff purchases and credit card orders in line with School Policy, while helping prepare for internal and external audits.
Strategic Engagement: Building connections with financial institutions and reviewing the role of finance within the school curriculum.
We are looking for an ambitious individual who balances strong technical potential with excellent communication skills.
Entry Requirements:
A minimum of 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above.
Eligibility: You must not already hold a qualification at the same or higher level in a similar subject.
Vetting: An enhanced DBS disclosure is mandatory due to the school setting.
Essential Skills & Attributes:
A genuine "passion for numeracy" and a clear desire to achieve professional qualifications.
Advanced IT skills, particularly being a highly confident user of MS Excel.
Impeccable attention to detail, with high accuracy in cross-checking data and correcting errors.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate professionally with a diverse group including parents, pupils, and school staff.
A flexible attitude toward working hours to accommodate seasonal business needs.
