Midday Assistant
PayScale:TLW(approx.£4,630actual)
7.5hrs per week(11.45am to 1.15pm daily)

We areseekingto appointMiddayAssistantstosupport students during their lunch time.This role involves ensuring students are safe, engaged and supported during outdoor play and lunchtime activities.The ideal candidate will have a compassionate approach to working with children with a variety of special needs andwillbe committed to promoting an inclusive and positive environment.
Previousexperience of working with children with special educational needs whilst not essential, is preferable.
The Trust:
Students throughoutTreetopsLearning Community have complex needs varying from moderate to severe learning difficulties, which mayinclude;speech and communication difficulties,autismand global developmental delay.
In March2025Treetops School was judged by Ofsted to havemaintainedthe standardsidentifiedat thepreviousinspection.Thepreviousinspection was in February 2020, at which time Treetops was judged as Outstanding. Treetops Free School, which officially opened in September 2022, was judged Good in its first Ofsted inspection in March 2024.
Job Overview:
- Tomaintainthe safety,welfareand good behaviour of the pupils during the midday break
- Whereappropriate,assistpupils in selecting their meal. Toassistin and aid positioning in the hall
- Toassistchildren with eating their meal if appropriate
- Toassistto clear plates and cutlery from the tables, clear up any associated spillages
- To encourage the pupils to communicate using allappropriate methodsi.e. using signing and symbols
- Encourage the pupils to be independent
- To provide pastoral care, guidance and routine advice to pupils asrequired
- Toencourage students to engage in inclusive, age-appropriate play activities that promote social,emotionaland physical development
- To work closely with classroom teachers to implement behaviourmanagementplans and provide effective support
- Tocommunicate with staff about any incidents, concerns or needs that arise during lunchtime
- To understand and apply school policies and procedures
- To attend relevant training and meetings asrequired
General:
- To undertake any trainingcommensuratewith the post
- To show a responsible attitude to health and safety issues and have due regard for their personal safety and that of others
- The duties above are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the post holder may be required by the Headteacher to carry outappropriate dutieswithin the context of the job,skillsand grade
