Term time only plus 2 days for INSET -8.30am to 3:45pm Monday - Friday.
Salary:SCP 2 - SCP 5

West Thurrock Academy has a fantastic opportunity for you to join our dedicated and hardworking EYFS Support Team. The successful EYFS Practitioner will work as part of a team to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that supports the development and well-being of children aged 3-5 years in the school's EYFS.

Key tasks associated to the role:
Health, Safety & Safeguarding
- Ensure a safe, clean, and secure environment at all times.
- Adhere to safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Carry out daily risk assessments and report any concerns to management.
Personal Care
- Support children with personal care routines including feeding, toileting, and dressing.
- Maintain dignity and respect for each child at all times.
Partnership with Parents
- Develop strong relationships with parents and carers, keeping them informed about their child's progress and welfare.
- Encourage parental involvement in the nursery.
Teamwork and Communication
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan and deliver a balanced curriculum.
- Attend team meetings, training sessions, and contribute to planning and improvement discussions.
Administration
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records including observations, learning journals, accident forms, and attendance logs.
- Follow nursery policies and procedures at all times.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Level 2 or 3 qualification in Childcare (e.g., CACHE, NVQ, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of the EYFS and child development.
- Clear enhanced DBS check.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

West Thurrock Academy is a two-form school which currently has 450 children on role.
Our school community is a broad and vibrant tapestry enriched by a wide range of backgrounds, faiths and life experiences. As a result of our inclusive approach, we are proud to support hundreds of children who learn, think and communicate in different ways.
We are proud of our welcoming and engaging learning environment. Our school is spacious, with a large hall used for PE, assemblies and meals. We also have multiple outdoor learning areas and access to a well-sized field. Children have access to a range of mobile technologies during computing sessions which are also used across the curriculum. Over the past academic year, we have invested in several spaces to support emotional regulation including a soft room and sensory pods - accessible to any child who may need them. We have also developed learning environments tailored for children requiring pre-formal or semi-formal approaches within a mainstream setting. West Thurrock Academy is a place where all children can feel safe, secure and empowered to explore and learn.
