Due to the increasing number of children on roll, we are looking for an enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our busy and friendly catering team as soon as possible. Hours of work are 11:30am to 2:30pm Monday to Friday (15 hours per week).
Job Purpose:
To support the delivery of high-quality, nutritious meals and snacks to pupils, staff, and visitors, ensuring the catering area is clean, safe, and welcoming. The Catering Assistant plays a vital role in maintaining the high standards expected in an independent school dining environment.

Main duties
- Assist with the preparation, presentation, and serving of food and beverages in accordance with hygiene regulations and school standards.
- Support the kitchen team in basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping, and plating.
- Set up and clear down the dining area before and after service, ensuring it is clean and presentable.
- Operate kitchen equipment such as dishwashers, mixers, and food warmers safely and efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all food preparation and service areas, following daily cleaning schedules and to the standard required by the Statutory Health & Safety and Safety & Hygiene Regulations
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the Catering Manager.
- Follow all food safety, allergen, and health & safety regulations at all times.
- Support special school events and functions as required (e.g., open days, sports day catering).
- Work collaboratively with kitchen and school staff to provide a positive dining experience for pupils.
- Engage with pupils in a polite, respectful, and friendly manner, being mindful of the school's values
- The postholder is expected to have a responsible attitude and good self-presentation.
