SEN Trust Southend is looking to appoint a well organised, efficient and enthusiastic Governance Professional/Company Secretary. The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO, Trustees, Members and Academy Committee Clerks. This is a key role within the Trust and would ideally suit a highly organised, efficient, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual who can provide an excellent service for governance across the Trust.

This role will support Trustees in delivering their statutory responsibilities through meetings and sub-committees, including agenda preparation, attendance at meetings and minute taking. You will manage all aspects of compliance, policies and GDPR within the MAT including; statutory returns,(e.g. Companies House returns, Register of Business Interests etc) policy updates and updating/developing the Trust website.

Under the direction of the CEO you will deliver an efficient clerking service for the Trust. You will be able to work independently and be instrumental in providing professional governance guidance. You will provide advice to the Trust on governance and procedural matters, whilst undertaking effective clerking and administrative support for the Trust Board and its' committees.

The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, be confident in their approach, be efficient and maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times. The ideal candidate will have strong IT skills

The role offers flexible and blended working with occasional out of school hours. Meetings will take place at the Trust central office at The St. Christopher School.

There are opportunities for additional hours in order to meet the governance needs of the Trust including supporting local governing board panels as requested or to provide cover for other clerking team members in their absence.

This is a unique MAT of four academy special schools within Southend who work closely together. As such, partnership working is key to the schools' and the MAT's success.

Information about the School

The St. Christopher School is a specialist special school for Communication & Interaction for pupils aged 3 - 19. We work with a wide range of pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, communication & interaction difficulties and range of learning difficulties. The school is part of SEN Trust Southend.

SEN Trust Southend opened as a formal partnership on 1 September 2017. The four special schools, The St. Christopher School, Kingsdown School, Lancaster School and St. Nicholas School have always worked closely together to create a strong group of special schools which aim to meet the majority of needs of those pupils who require specialist support in a specialist educational school with Southend. We created the Multi-Academy Trust to help us continue this work.
