Class Teacher (SEMH/SEND) - Ages 13-18
Location: Westcliff-on-Sea
Salary: £35,000 to £40,000
Contract: Permanent
Start Date: January 2027
Teach Where Relationships Come First
We are seeking a compassionate, creative, and resilient Class Teacher to join our specialist provision for students aged 13-18. Our School works closely with our children's homes to provide a consistent, nurturing, and trauma-informed environment where children feel safe, understood, and able to learn.
This is a role for a Teacher who believes in the power of connection, who sees behaviour as communication, and who is committed to helping young people rebuild trust in education.
Your Role
- Delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to meet the learning needs of the students
- Creating a calm, structured, and emotionally safe classroom environment
- Using trauma-informed strategies to support regulation, resilience, and positive relationships
- Working closely with the children's home team to ensure consistency across home and school
- Planning personalised learning pathways that build confidence and celebrate progress
- Using assessment to inform teaching and track holistic development
- Supporting students with social, emotional, and communication needs
- Contributing to a multi-disciplinary approach that places the child at the centre
What We're Looking For
- A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent)
- Experience teaching secondary-aged students, ideally within SEMH/SEND settings
- Strong subject knowledge, particularly Maths and Science
- The ability to deliver engaging lessons
- A relational, reflective, and child-centred approach
- Confidence in adapting the curriculum to meet diverse needs
- Strong behaviour support skills grounded in empathy and understanding
- Excellent communication and teamwork, especially across care and education
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
