Midday Assistant
Term time only plus 2 days for INSET - 11:45am to 1:30pm Monday - Friday.
Salary: SCP 3 (£12.73 per hour) - SCP 5(£13.06 per hour)
Hours per-week: 8h 45 minutes
We are looking for a Midday Assistant to start work as soon as possible.This is a fixed term contract fromJanaury 2026 - July 2026.

Can you offer?
• Flexibility-a 'can do' approach with an ability to communicate with children in a firm but fair manner
• An ability to respond to all pupils and staff
• A willingness to involve yourself with the children, and instigate group games
• First Aid-not essential as we can arrange this
The role of the Midday Assistant is to help with the food, promote a good standard of behaviour, supervise the children when playing outside, or in classrooms on wet days.
The Midday Assistant should act as a responsible caring adult with the health, safety, and welfare of the children always in mind; show conduct which commands respect; and see that the children behave at all times sensibly and quietly.

West Thurrock Academy is a two-form school which currently has 450 children on role.

Over the past academic year, we have invested in several spaces to support emotional regulation including a soft room and sensory pods - accessible to any child who may need them. We have also developed learning environments tailored for children requiring pre-formal or semi-formal approaches within a mainstream setting.
