St John's Green Primary School is a large City Centre school, operating over two sites.

We are a good school and put the children at the heart of Teaching & Learning with a curriculum that seeks to inspire and support children to achieve.

We are looking to appoint an experienced Administrative Assistant with good numeracy and literacy skills to join our office team. The successful candidate will become an integral member of our team and enjoy the benefits of free parking, access to a Wellbeing Staff Support Programme, staff refreshments, training (including First Aid) and development and enrolment into the Local Government Pension scheme.

The post is for a maternity cover contract starting 03 November 2025 to 31 May 2026 in the first instance, 37 hours per week (full time), 8.15am to 4.45pm Mon-Fri, term time plus non-pupil days. We are a two-site school and your daily role will involve moving between the sites working with and supporting both offices.

The successful applicant will be paid at Scale 4 Point 7 which equates to £26,403 per annum (pro rata £22,635.48 per annum).

The main duties:

Welfare

· To administer first aid to pupils as required, in keeping with the school's policy and order first aid supplies as necessary

· To liaise with parents regarding pupil's sickness/injury

· To assist with visits from nurse, dentist etc

· To assist with the general welfare of pupils

Reception
· To be the first point of contact for both telephone and face to face enquiries and take messages where appropriate

· To ensure school security arrangements are always complied with, including the issue of visitor's badges and signing of the visitor's book

· To accept, sign and check deliveries

· To provide hospitality for visitors to the school

Clerical
· To undertake typing and word processing as required

· To undertake filing and photocopying as required, including the basic maintenance of the photocopier

· To be responsible for the sorting and distributing of incoming post and the sending of outgoing post, including the log of stamps

· To provide general clerical support as required

· To be responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the manual and computerised pupil data records, including attendance details and dinner money

· To assist with the monitoring and maintenance of stock and order supplies as necessary

· To be responsible for the administration of school trips
