After School Assistant
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 3:20pm - 5:00pm
St Joseph's Catholic Primary School is a welcoming, inclusive and nurturing Catholic school where children are encouraged to flourish academically, socially and spiritually. Our After School Club provides a safe, caring and stimulating environment for children aged 2-11 years, offering a range of activities that support children's wellbeing, development and enjoyment at the end of the school day.
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and reliable After School Club Assistant to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will help provide high-quality care and supervision for children attending the After School Club, ensuring their safety, welfare and enjoyment at all times.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising children aged 2-11 years during After School Club sessions.
- Supporting a range of age-appropriate play, creative and recreational activities.
- Assisting with the preparation and serving of snacks and refreshments.
- Promoting positive behaviour and ensuring children feel happy, safe and included.
- Following safeguarding, health and safety, food hygiene and school policies.
- Supporting children's emotional wellbeing and individual needs.
- Helping to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
- Building positive relationships with children, parents, carers and colleagues.
- Assisting with setting up and clearing away equipment and resources.

Essential Requirements
- Experience of working with children in a school, nursery, childcare or similar setting.
- Good standards of literacy and numeracy.
- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
- Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a team.
Desirable Requirements
- Relevant childcare qualification (Level 2 or 3).
- Paediatric First Aid training.
- Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Experience of working with children across a wide age range.
