Apprentice Job Description

Job Title: Early Years Apprentice (Full Time) Level 2 / 3

Reports To: Room Leader / Deputy Manager / Pre School Manager
Location: Walton on The Naze
Salary: Apprenticeship Wage (in line with national guidelines)
Hours: 08.30 - 4.00 Monday - Friday

Job Purpose

To work as part of a team to support the care, learning, and development of young children while undertaking a recognised Early Years qualification (Level 2 or Level 3). The apprentice will learn how to provide a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Key Responsibilities

Learning & Development

Support the planning and delivery of age-appropriate activities
Help create a fun, engaging, and safe learning environment
Assist in observing and recording children's development
Learn about the EYFS framework and how it is implemented in practice

Childcare & Wellbeing

Assist in providing high-quality care for children aged [0-5 years]
Support children's personal care routines (e.g. feeding, toileting, hygiene)
Help children develop social skills, independence, and confidence
Build positive relationships with children

Safeguarding & Safety

Learn and follow all safeguarding and child protection procedures
Help maintain a clean, safe, and secure environment
Understand health and safety requirements within the setting

Teamwork

Work alongside experienced staff and contribute to daily routines
Attend team meetings and training sessions
Take direction from senior staff and ask for support when needed
Develop professional working relationships with colleagues

Parent Partnerships

Greet parents and carers in a friendly and professional manner
Share appropriate information under supervision
Maintain confidentiality at all times

Training & Development

Work towards a Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification
Attend college/training provider sessions as required
Complete coursework, assignments, and on-the-job training
Receive regular support, supervision, and feedback

Person Specification

Essential

Interest in working with young children
Willingness to learn and develop new skills
Good communication and teamwork skills
Reliable, punctual, and enthusiastic attitude
Basic literacy and numeracy skills

Desirable

Some experience with children (e.g. babysitting, school placement)
Understanding of early years education (not essential as training provided)

Additional Information

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check
Apprentices must commit to completing their qualification
Study time will be included as part of working hours
