Early Years Educator Job Description
Job Title: Early Years Educator (Level 2 / Level 3) - Full Time
Reports To: Room Leader / Deputy Manager / Pre School Manager
Location: Walton on The Naze
Salary: £12.71 per hr
Hours: 08.30 - 4.00 Monday - Friday
Job Purpose
To provide high-quality care and early years education for children aged [0-5 years], supporting their learning, development, and wellbeing in a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment. The Early Years Educator will work as part of a team to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and build strong partnerships with parents and carers.
Key Responsibilities
Childcare & Development
Provide a safe, caring, and nurturing environment for all children
Support children's emotional, physical, and social development
Act as a key person for a group of children, building secure attachments
Plan and deliver engaging activities in line with the EYFS
Observe, assess, and record children's progress
Learning & Play
Create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment
Encourage children's independence and curiosity through play
Support children with additional needs, working with SENCO where required
Promote positive behaviour using consistent strategies
Safeguarding & Welfare
Follow all safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures
Ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of all children at all times
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised setting
Administer first aid where required (if qualified)
Teamwork
Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards
Support room routines and daily operations
Attend staff meetings, training, and professional development sessions
Communicate effectively with team members and management
Parent Partnerships
Build positive relationships with parents and carers
Share information about children's development and daily activities
Support settling-in processes and transitions
Maintain confidentiality at all times
Person Specification
Essential
Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years / Childcare
Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
Experience working with young children (in a nursery or similar setting)
Good communication and teamwork skills
Desirable
Paediatric First Aid certificate
Experience as a key person
Knowledge of special educational needs (SEN)
Food hygiene certificate
Allergy Awareness certificate

Additional Information

We are a small dedicated team who strive to improve the educational outcomes for children as well as extending the children's life experiences through visits, outings and in house opportunities.
