Assistant Caretaker

Working Hours:

37 Hours per week - 6.30am to 2.30pm Monday to Thursday and 6.30am to 2pm Friday (1/2 hour unpaid lunch break)

Starting Salary:

Scale 3, Point 6 plus Fringe allowance. (April 2026 new payscales)

Total annual salary £26,718 ** plus national pay award April 2026 once agreed**

25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and generous Local Government Pension Scheme

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and conscientious Assistant Caretaker to join our site team. The successful candidate will support the Site Manager and Caretaker in ensuring the school premises are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, safety, and security.

Key responsibilities include:

Acting as a keyholder and undertaking security procedures
Performing routine maintenance and minor repairs
Cleaning designated areas and supporting site hygiene
Assisting with deliveries and porterage
Supporting emergency procedures and site safety protocols

Some lettings and an evening/weekend gate lock up will be required and paid in addition to the contracted hours.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

Experience in cleaning and basic maintenance tasks
A proactive and flexible approach to work
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
A commitment to health and safety and safeguarding procedures
Good communication and organisational skills

Castledon School is a Special School for pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties and additional complex needs from Year 1 - Year 14.
