Learning Support Assistant
Scale 3 (c.£6,057)
Fixed Term until 31.08.2028
Term time only, Thursday - Friday, 9.00 - 15.00pm, 10.5 hours
To commence: as soon as possible
Maylandsea Primary School is part of Quantum Multi-Academy Trust and is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, reliable and capable learning support assistant who will have a positive impact on the children that they work with. Previous experience is highly desirable but not essential. You will be joining a team of hard working, friendly and adaptable LSAs working under the direction of class teachers supporting in lessons and running interventions.
We are seeking a calm, patient, and committed candidate to provide dedicated support for a child with complex social, emotional, and learning needs. The child requires a high level of adult reassurance and benefits from consistent routines, clear expectations, and skilled co-regulation, particularly during transitions or periods of change.
The role involves providing close support to help the child maintain attention, engage with learning tasks, and develop independence. The successful candidate will support emotional regulation, social interaction, and sensory needs, using structured strategies and movement breaks where appropriate. You will play a key role in creating a predictable, nurturing, and emotionally safe learning environment in which the child can build confidence and thrive.
Suitable candidates will be able to interact with a wide range of children and use their own interpersonal skills to encourage the most from the children. Supporting groups of pupils and individuals including those with additional needs.
Also be able to work as part of a team and able to liaise with other members of staff. The successful applicant will be organised with good communication skills, able to demonstrate initiative and flexibility, and understand the professional nature of the role.
Together with the above attributes, a good standard of English and mathematics is required.
Qualifications: good numeracy and literacy skills - (GCSE or equivalent in English and maths are highly desirable).
