Job Vacancy: Social Communication Learning Lead
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team to support children not yet ready to access the mainstream classroom. In this exciting new role, you willlead a team in addressing pupils' social communication needs to enhance their readiness to engage in learning activities effectively. You will provide a bespoke curriculum that develops awareness, participation and social skills to enable children to access the mainstream classroom on an increasing basis.
You will lead the practitioners within your team and direct them accordingly.
Starting salary is Scale 6 Point 17-19.
Responsibilities:
- Assessing and identifying pupils who require additional support to enhance their learning readiness, social skills, awareness and participation.
- Designing and implementing individualised support plans to address pupils' specific needs.
- Providing guidance and support to teaching staff in implementing differentiated strategies and accommodations.
- Collaborating with external agencies and professionals to access specialised interventions or resources.
- Offering training and consultation to staff on social communication approaches you have developed through our robust training offer. Our training offer expects to include training around the SCERTS model for social communication, outreach from a local specialist provision, training from an occupational therapist and speech and language therapists across one year.
- Developing positive relationships with pupils, providing mentorship and support as needed.
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions and making data-informed decisions.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Counselling, or a related field preferred although not essential for the right candidate with relevant experience.
- Proven experience working with pupils with social communication difficulties.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead and collaborate with staff, families, and external agencies.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis and utilisation for decision-making.
- Empathy, adaptability, and a proactive approach to addressing barriers to access the mainstream curriculum.
