Salary: Band A Point 1 - 6
(£8,564.26 - £9,344.71 actual salary per annum)
17 hours 30 minutes per week
2.5 days per week
(days of working and working pattern to be negotiated with successful candidate)
38 weeks per year, term time plus inset days

A new opportunity has arisen, for a Design Technician to join our successful Technician team supporting students in the classroom environment. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, caring, committed and flexible Design & Technology Technician to work in our state-of-the-art technology department, ensuring teachers and students have all the resources required for lessons, whilst supporting pupil learning and increasing educational outcomes
The successful candidate will enable pupils' access to learning by providing technical advice and support in the practical and technical aspects of the curriculum by preparing, maintaining, and organising equipment and materials. You will work with pupils as directed by the teacher, supporting safe and sensible behaviour during practical tasks. You will maintain cleanliness and security of specialist areas and equipment and maintain equipment taking basic repairs and modifications.
The ideal candidate will have experience working within a workshop or construction or engineering industry. A good understanding of health & safety is also essential. The role of a Design Technician provides practical support, so the successful individual will need to be confident in their approach to their work, be able to work with others, provide clear instructions and have good organisational skills.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate patience and show a commitment to supporting learners to improve educational outcomes. This role would be suited to someone enthusiastic, personable, empathetic, and able to communicate effectively, whilst maintaining a calm and professional manner, under pressure. Previous experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
Thames Park Secondary School opened in September 2020 in Thurrock and moved to our state-of-the-art facilities in 2022 in North Grays. Thames Park Secondary School aims to provide an outstanding education for all its students. We have a strong focus on digital education running throughout our curriculum and are passionate about making our learning both exciting and memorable.

Our school was judged to be "good" in all areas by Ofsted. The report states that "Pupils are proud of their school" and "In lessons, they show commitment to learning and work hard". The report states that "The positive ethos at the school is valued and pupils contribute towards this in the way they behave and the way in which they take on positions of leadership", at Thames Park, students "capably take responsibility to lead". The report goes on to describe how Thames Park has "a positive learning atmosphere" and how "pupils conduct themselves maturely". The report also states that "Staff enable pupils to consider and discuss the personal issues faced in adult life".
Due to increasing student numbers, Thames Park Secondary School is on a journey of improvement and is seeking to appoint additional staff. We are a school which is firmly rooted in serving our community.
