Job Title:People Support & School Officer
Grade:Scale 6 (Pro-rata salary £21,867 to £23,962, pay award pending)
Reporting to:LIFE People Manager
Responsible for:n/a
Working Hours:35 hours per week for 41 weeks per year (term time plus 3 weeks)
Purpose
Reporting to the People Manager and working with Executive Headteachers, Heads of Schools and Administrative Support Officers to support and deliver efficient recruitment & enrolment, administration of terms & conditions of employment and maintenance of people systems for our schools in the Colchester Hub by the People Performance Agreement. (60% of the role)
Accountable to the Headteacher to provide effective and efficient administrative support for Langenhoe Community Primary School (40% of the role).
Main Responsibilities
To support schools in adhering to recruitment timelines as per the LIFE Recruitment Policy and conducting pre-employment checks for potential employees before issuing employment contracts.
To prepare and issue contracts of employment and variation letters and to inform Finance & Payroll of any employee changes that either have a financial and/or payroll implication.
To ensure that accurate and up-to-date employee information is held in our People systems and each school's Single Central Record.
Provide customer service, resolving queries, and offering administrative support, as well as organizing school trips and events, managing record systems, and producing reports for Langenhoe
Key Duties
LIFE
To uphold our way of working and to meet the performance agreement standards as set out in the HR Performance Agreement.
Placement of job adverts, administration of recruitment process including supporting the interview panel at selection and undertaking pre-employment checks.
Issue contracts of employment for new employees and amended contracts of employment and/or variations letters to employees at either the instruction of the designated Headteacher or to comply with their contractual terms and conditions of employment.
Issue documentation to employees and administer the process on behalf of the designated Headteacher for occupational and/or statutory leave except for statutory sick pay.
To inform Finance & Payroll of any individual employee changes to their terms and conditions, employment status and any absence, excluding annual leave.
To support schools in referring employees to occupational health and analyse employee absences.
Administer the appraisal process for all employees
Provides support and guidance to the ASO so that they can submit a workforce census return.
Manage DBS renewals and updates.
To arrange and take notes at meetings between Heads and employees concerning employee relations issues, including the preparation and issue of relevant documentation.
To attend LIFE PeopleTeam Meetings, either virtually or in person and to meet regularly meet with Executive Heads and Heads of School.
The postholder will be required to regularly travel to LIFE schools within the Colchester Hub and occasionally schools and premises elsewhere with the Trust in the performance of their duties.
Langenhoe
Provide effective customer service, including resolving enquiries and complaints, while also offering administrative support to colleagues and the governing body.
Organize school trips and events, as well as administer record/information systems, analyse data, and produce reports
Manage stock within a budget, process payments, offer guidance to colleagues, visitors and pupils, and assist with marketing and premises administration
Provide first aid liaise with parents/carers and support pupil welfare including visits from healthcare professionals.
To welcome visitors, enforce security measures and accept deliveries.

We are a small, rural community primary school, in a beautiful setting, where we promote outdoor learning and deliver Forest Schools. Our Staff are friendly and welcoming and our parents are supportive. Our children feel safe and enjoy coming to school.
