SEND Learning Support Assistant

We are looking to appoint a learning support assistant to join our happy and hardworking team. This role will provide additional support for pupils with additional learning needs or social and emotional difficulties, as well as more general classroom support.

A key part of this role will involve working within our SEND Inclusion hub, providing targeted support for children with high-level and complex needs. As such, this role is likely to interest candidates who truly enjoy working with children who face considerable challenges with either their learning or managing their behaviour.

We require a member of staff who is flexible, as the role will change according to the needs of the school. Interest is particularly welcome from applicants who have experience working with children and a strong understanding of positive behaviour management strategies.

Suitable candidates will need to:

  • Be able to motivate and encourage children to achieve their best.
  • Support the wellbeing of pupils within both the mainstream classroom and the SEND Inclusion hub.
  • Deliver learning activities to pupils as directed by the class teacher/SENCo, adapting tasks to support high-level individual needs.
  • Respond effectively and compassionately to diverse learning and behavioural challenges.
  • A good standard of English and Mathematics is essential, as is a caring, resilient, and enthusiastic nature.

This school is committed to:

  • safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety, and the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, of children and young people;
  • promoting equality of opportunity and community cohesion where the diversity of different backgrounds and circumstances is appreciated and positively valued;
  • the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faiths and beliefs.

We expect all staff, volunteers and other workers to share this commitment.

To apply, please go to www.essexschoolsjobs.co.uk and complete the online application form.

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances.
