We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and experienced SEND Learning Support Assistant to join our team.
You will be providing targeted support to pupils with EHCP and SEND, helping them to access learning, develop communication and independence skills, and achieve their individual outcomes.
The role will include:
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver targeted one-to-one and small-group support in line with pupils' EHCPs, individual support plans and agreed outcomes.
- Adapting learning activities and resources so pupils can access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons and wider school life.
- Supporting the development of communication, interaction, emotional regulation, social skills, independence and self-care, using agreed approaches and specialist resources where appropriate.
- Promoting positive behaviour and wellbeing through consistent routines, clear expectations, encouragement and appropriate de-escalation strategies.
- Observing pupils, recording progress and providing accurate feedback to teachers and the SENCO to support assessment, planning and review.
- Liaising professionally with colleagues, families and external professionals, following agreed programmes and maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
- Supporting pupils' safety and welfare at all times and following the school's safeguarding, health and safety, behaviour and inclusion policies.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Patient, caring, calm and consistently encouraging, with a genuine commitment to helping children with SEND thrive.
- Experienced in supporting children in a primary-school setting; experience of EHCPs, autism, speech and language needs, or social, emotional and mental health needs would be an advantage.
- A clear and respectful communicator who can build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, families and professionals.
- Observant and reflective, with the ability to follow plans, recognise progress and respond flexibly to individual needs.
- Reliable, well organised and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willing to undertake relevant training and apply specialist guidance consistently.
- Able to maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries and high expectations for every pupil.
- Committed to safeguarding, inclusion, equality and the school's ethos.
Hours: 3 hours 15 minutes per day, Monday, Tuesday & Friday mornings
Contract: Term time only, plus one INSET Day
Salary: Scale 3, points 6-7, Actual £5929.38 to £6023.68
