After School Wraparound Care Manager

Hours:Monday to Friday, 3:00pm-6:30pm (Provision 3:15pm-6pm) - 17.5 hours per week.

Pay Scale: Scale 5, Point 10

FTE - £28 608.00 per annum

17.50 hours per week, 5 days per week - £ 11 288.65 per annum actual salary.

Job Purpose

The After School Wraparound Care Manager will have responsibility for the effective day-to-day organisation and delivery of the schools after school new wraparound care provision.

The postholder will lead and coordinate a high-quality provision that issafe, calm, nurturing, inclusive and engaging, ensuring that children are well cared for and have opportunities to relax, play, socialise and take part in a range of activities.

The manager will work closely with children, parents/carers, school staff and the wider wraparound care team to ensure that the provision reflects the school's Christian ethos, vision and values.

The successful candidate will contribute to an environment where children are encouraged toBelieve in Love, Learn with Courage and Flourish in Wisdom, ensuring that these values are reflected in the way children are cared for and in the relationships developed with children, families and colleagues.

The postholder will be responsible for:

  • Organising staff timetables and rotas.
  • Deploying support staff effectively.
  • Planning and coordinating activities using school resources
  • Coordinating food menus and food orders with the school administration team.
  • Maintaining a safe, calm and nurturing environment.
  • Working positively with children and parents/carers.
  • Ensuring appropriate use of the school's facilities.
  • Supporting the welfare, wellbeing and development of the children attending.

Key Responsibilities

1. Organisation

  • Take day-to-day responsibility for the smooth running of the after school wraparound care provision.
  • Ensure the provision operates in accordance with school policies, procedures and expectations.
  • Organise and maintain appropriate staff timetables and rotas.
  • Deploy support staff effectively according to the needs of the children and the activities taking place.
  • Ensure appropriate levels of supervision are maintained at all times.
  • Provide clear direction and support to members of the wraparound care team.
  • Ensure that staff understand their responsibilities and contribute positively to the provision.
  • Respond flexibly to changing staffing and operational needs.
  • Ensure the wraparound care environment is prepared before children arrive and appropriately cleared and secured at the end of each session.
  • Work collaboratively with the school's leadership and administration teams.
  • Maintain appropriate records relating to the running of the provision.

2. Safeguarding and Child Welfare

  • Promote and maintain a safe, secure and nurturing environment for all children.
  • Follow the school's safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times.
  • Maintain appropriate supervision of children throughout the session.
  • Respond appropriately to children's individual needs, behaviour and wellbeing.
  • Ensure accidents, incidents and concerns are reported and recorded in accordance with school procedures and communicated professionally to parents.
  • Be alert to safeguarding concerns and report them promptly through the school's established procedures.
  • Promote positive behaviour and respectful relationships between children.
  • Ensure that children feel safe, valued, listened to and cared for.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Work in accordance with all relevant school policies and procedures.

3. Activities and Use of School Facilities

  • Plan and provide a varied programme of safe, age-appropriate and engaging activities.
  • Make effective use of the school's facilities and available resources.
  • Provide opportunities for children to play, be creative, read, socialise, be active and develop their interests.
  • Ensure activities are inclusive and accessible to children with different needs and abilities working alongside ethe Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion and the pastoral team.
  • Work with the SLT to ensure activities and equipment are appropriately risk assessed and safely managed.
  • Encourage children to develop independence, confidence, creativity and positive relationships.
  • Provide opportunities for both structured and child-led activities.
  • Create an environment where children can relax after the school day while still having opportunities to learn, explore and develop their interests.
  • Encourage children to demonstrate kindness, respect, courage and wisdom through their interactions and activities

4. Food and Refreshments

  • Coordinate the provision of food and refreshments for the wraparound care session.
  • Ensure menus are planned in advance and are appropriate, balanced and suitable for the children attending.
  • Provide menu and food-ordering requirements to the school administration team within agreed timescales.
  • Liaise with the administration team regarding food orders and stock requirements.
  • Take account of known dietary requirements, allergies and individual needs in accordance with school procedures.
  • Ensure food is stored, prepared and served safely and hygienically.
  • Maintain appropriate records relating to food allergies and dietary requirements.
  • Encourage positive and healthy attitudes towards food and eating.
  • Follow the school's food safety and hygiene procedures at all times.

5. Working with Children

  • Build positive, respectful and trusting relationships with children.
  • Provide a warm and welcoming environment at the end of the school day.
  • Listen to children and respond appropriately to their needs and concerns.
  • Encourage children to participate positively in activities and develop their interests.
  • Support children in managing relationships, emotions and behaviour.
  • Promote kindness, respect, cooperation and inclusion.
  • Encourage children to develop independence and responsibility.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to individual children's needs.
  • Ensure that the school's Christian ethos and values are reflected naturally in everyday interactions.
  • Help children to feel valued and supported and encourage them to flourish in their own individual ways.

6. Working with Parents and Carers

  • Develop positive and professional relationships with parents and carers.
  • Welcome parents and carers and communicate effectively with them at collection time.
  • Share appropriate information about children's experiences and wellbeing during the session.
  • Respond to queries and concerns professionally and appropriately.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.
  • Promote positive communication between the wraparound care provision, families and the wider school.
  • Treat all families with kindness, respect and understanding.

7. General Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively as part of the wider school team.
  • Lead by example and model positive professional conduct.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and school leaders.
  • Raise staffing, safeguarding or operational concerns promptly with the appropriate member of the school leadership team.
  • Attend relevant meetings, training and professional development as required.
  • Keep up to date with relevant school policies and procedures.
  • Comply with health and safety, safeguarding, confidentiality and data protection requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and welcoming wraparound care environment.
  • Complete appropriate records and documentation.
  • Ensure the wraparound care area and resources are tidied and appropriately stored at the end of each session.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties relevant to the role as directed by the Headteacher or designated school leader.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that the school's after school wraparound care provision is a welcoming, safe and enriching experience for every child. They will be an organised, caring and positive leader who is committed to providing high-quality care and creating an environment in which children feel valued, secure and able to flourish.

Through strong relationships with children, families and colleagues, the postholder will contribute to the wider life of the school and uphold its Christian ethos and values.
