Bridge Academy Trust is a collegiate and collaborative Trust comprising of 11 schools, where, first and foremost, each school is a place of high-quality learning, where young people ENJOY, ENRICH, ACHIEVE & ASPIRE. The core purpose is to provide high-quality continuity of every child's journey through education from 3 to 19, with a community and school-led school improvement approach and long-term sustainable strategy. Bridge Academy Trust is committed to its people strategy and prioritises staff's development to ensure they too can enjoy, enrich, achieve, and aspire.

About the role:

Notley High School and Sixth Form, part of Bridge Academy Trust, is an ambitious, improving school rated Strong by Ofsted for Inclusion and Leadership & Governance (May 2026). Inspectors found that adults are precise in identifying pupils who need help with their reading, with clear systems in place to identify and target pupils' specific reading needs, and that leaders make sure staff are well trained to provide the right support.
We are seeking a skilled and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Reading) to cover maternity leave from January 2027, supporting pupils who need help to develop their reading skill and confidence.

Whilst this is a central role, it is based at Notley High School.

About the role
• Delivering targeted reading intervention and support across the school
• Working closely with the SENDCo and the Assistant Headteacher for Whole School Reading to identify and support pupils with reading needs
• Full support from an experienced and welcoming team
• Opportunity to contribute to our "Enjoy · Enrich · Achieve · Aspire" ethos

We are looking for someone who
• Holds HLTA status (or equivalent relevant experience/qualification)
• Has experience delivering structured reading intervention programmes
• Is confident identifying and addressing gaps in pupils' reading ability
• Is committed to inclusive practice and raising outcomes for all pupils
• Can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
• Shares our commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing

About us
"A happy, highly welcoming place to be" - leaders and staff at all levels are determined that every child thrives. - Ofsted, May 2026

Work Schedule:

18 hours per week

Term Time Only + 5 Inset Days, 39 weeks a year

Fixed term, covering Maternity leave.

How to Apply:
To apply for the role, please complete the application form and recruitment monitoring form demonstrating how your skills and experience match the criteria in the Job Description and Person Specification and return directly to The Ramsey Academy.

Application guidance notes are also available to assist you with completing your application.

Informal enquiries regarding the role can be made to the school office via email to Mrs Downes (Head's PA) - cdownes@ramseyacademy.com

Closing date: Sunday 20th September 2026, At Midnight

Interview Date: To be confirmed.
