Learning Support Assistants

Fixed Term Contract until 31/08/2027

Salary - Essex Scale 3 Point 6-7

£17,623.35 - £17,904.09 actual annual salary

(plus £494.34 fringe allowance per annum)

30 hours per week

Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 3:10pm (40-minute unpaid break)

38 weeks per year - term time plus inset days

Start date: 1st September 2026

A new opportunity has arisen, for enthusiastic, caring and committed Learning Support Assistants to join our successful team supporting students in the classroom environment. These roles are fixed-term contracts until 31st August 2027.

These roles would suit candidates who are personable, empathetic and able to communicate effectively, whilst maintaining a calm and professional manner, under pressure. Previous experience would be an advantage but is not essential.

The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:

  • The ability to communicate with other members of staff effectively
  • The ability to build a strong professional relationship with the pupils and their families
  • Assisting pupil achievement by monitoring learning against learning outcomes, informing the teacher of progress/problems
  • Good organisational skills
  • Good behaviour management skills
  • Good basic English and Mathematics (GCSE Level 4 - 9 or equivalent)
  • Good record keeping skills (Progress and medical where required)
  • A passion for the impact teaching and learning can have on improving pupil outcomes
  • A commitment to supporting the delivery of education of the highest standard

BCHS is located in the heart of Brentwood, near the town centre, a short distance from the train station, which is 25 minutes from Liverpool Street Station. The school also includes a large sixth form campus and achievements at KS5 have been a key strength at BCHS. Parking is available on-site and there are good transport links by both rail and bus. BCHS is just over two miles from the M25.

All schools in the Trust work in equal partnership and are members of the schools' Co-operative Society.
