1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant - Four positions available
Start date: 1st September 2026
Fixed term contract until the child leaves the school
Hours:
Position 1: Monday - Thursday 8.45am-12.30pm, 1-3.15pm (23 hours a week) Supporting in Year 6
Position 2: Monday - Friday 8am - 12.30pm Supporting in Year R
Position 3: Monday - Friday 12.30 - 5pm Supporting in Year R
Position 4: Monday - Friday 8.45am - 12pm Supporting in Year 1
We are seeking to appoint 4 Learning Support Assistants with the ability and enthusiasm to work with pupils in Year R, Year 1 and Year 6. The successful candidates will be required to work co-operatively within a close-knit team to support the class teacher with children with an ASD and ADHD diagnosis, and a Year R child with Trisomy 21, Down Syndrome with hearing loss. The successful candidates will support the children on a one-to-one and small group basis. This support will include developing the child's communication and interaction skills, increasing their independence and resilience, as well as supporting their social and emotional needs. The appointed candidate will possess effective verbal and written communication skills; they will have a positive nature, demonstrating both patience, flexibility and resilience. They also need to be self-motivated and able to use their own initiative whilst being able to work as part of a team. Previous experience of working with pupils with SEND in a school setting is ideal.
You will be expected to:
● Establish a good relationship with the child; identify and respond to individual needs using agreed systems and strategies
● Keep the child safe in a range of environments, including the playground and lunch hall
● Deliver specialist support programmes and maintain appropriate records as required
● Be proactive in finding learning approaches that work and have the flexibility to change what does not work, feeding back to the Class teacher as required
● Liaise with parent/carers and external professionals
● Contribute to reviews and meetings
