Little Chums Nursery is based in the grounds of Beehive Lane Primary School, we have two rooms and our own private garden.
If you hold a Cache Level 2 or 3, are enthusiastic and want to be part of our busy, lively nursery then we could have the position for you.
Little Chums Nursery is a term time only setting. We care for children aged between 2 and 5 years; we also operate our popular Breakfast and Afterschool Club for children who attend Beehive Lane Primary School.
We teach children to be independent, they have access to free flow play and learning using both the indoor and outdoor areas. We introduce our Jolly Phonics programme to enable children to learn how to be confident with their letter sounds and numbers.
We have a well planned garden with safety flooring, mud kitchens and a digging/growing areas for the children to access throughout the day. We support children with special educational needs and disabilities by allocating a key person who gets to know the children really well and who can plan for their individual learning.
We offer a variety of activities to progress learning and differentiate them for individual needs. We plan an exciting, challenging curriculum to engage children in their learning and to ensure that they are achieving their individual next steps and becoming ready for School.
We care for school children before and after school and the successful applicant will be required to work two lates shifts per week (Up until 6pm)
Duties include: Planning fun and engaging activities, supervising play, preparing Afternoon Tea and some cleaning.
Succesful applicants will be required to take part in staff meetings and training courses.
Working at Little Chums requires us to:
- Act as a key person to a small group of children
- Work closely with Parents and Carers to ensure that they feel part of the Little Chums Family
- Carry out Observations and plan for your key children's next steps.
- To work to a high standard to ensure that children are safeguarded and their individual needs are met on a daily basis
- To tell stories and sing silly songs.
Person Specification requires applicants to:
- Have experience working with children (e.g. school, nursery, childcare, or voluntary work)
- Friendly, approachable, and patient manner
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage groups of children in a calm and positive way
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection (or willingness to learn)
- Excellent knoweldge of the EYS
Little Chums Nursery are committed to safeguarding children. All applicants will be screened before interview and Saffeguarding checks including DBS, The receipt of two professional references and a requirement to register with the update system are a must.
