We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, resourceful and committed Head of Mathematics to take responsibility for the strategic leadership of a dedicated, high-performing team with a keen focus on securing progress for every student. The Mathematics Curriculum Area is among the strongest in our school, and teaching in mathematics is consistently strong. Results have risen year on year, with over 73% gaining a 9-4 grade in 2025, significantly above national average, and 19% gaining a 7-9 grade. In addition to leading a team which has pioneered several initiatives in assessment and feedback, the successful candidate will join a creative and supportive Middle Leadership Group, which plays a key role in driving whole-school improvement.
These are exciting times at Alec Hunter, since ourmost recentOfsted inspection confirmed that the school continues to be 'good',with the report noting that "Staff morale is high.They feel valued by (the) leadership team (and)… like many pupils, enjoy being part of Alec Hunter Academy". It is anticipated that the postholder will make a significant contribution to the vision of the school in the next phase of its journey from good to great and will be instrumental in upholding the school's ethos and core principles.
