Holt Farm Infant School is a happy, nurturing, and inclusive community where every child is valued and supported to achieve their very best. We are looking fora compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistantto join our friendly and inclusive team and support children with complex SEND needs within our Early Years and Key Stage 1 settings. You will work on a 1:1 basis with children SEND room and will form part of a collaborative and forward-thinking inclusion team. We are driven to develop SEND provision across the school and this role could extend into a permanent SEND role.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND to help them access and enjoy a personalised curriculum under the direction of the SENDco.
Assist the inclusion team in planning and delivering tailored learning activities.
Implement planned learning activities, adapting them as needed to suit pupil responses.
Promote inclusion within the classroom and beyond, ensuring all children can access learning.
Record observations and progress to help inform planning.
Provide support with children's social, emotional, and welfare needs (including minor first aid and intimate care).
Adapt approaches to meet individual needs.
Observe, monitor, and record progress, feeding back to class teachers and the SENCo.
Foster a positive, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment where all children feel safe and valued.
Work closely with parents, teachers, and external professionals to support children's development.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience working with young children, particularly those with additional needs and children with ASD.
Be confident working 1:1 and using their initiative to adapt support to the child's needs.
Build strong partnerships with colleagues and families to ensure consistent support.
Have a positive attitude, good sense of humour, and a creative approach to learning.
Be enthusiastic, patient, and able to make learningfun and engaging.
A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or special needs support is desirable.
Good literacy, numeracy, and communication skills. GCSE Grades A-C in Maths and English.
Patience, empathy, and a commitment to helping every child thrive.
