Nursery Assistant (Level 2/3 Early Years qualified) & After-School Club Lead
Hours of work: 33 hours and 20 minutes per week (11.30am to 6.30pm with a 20 minute unpaid break), term-time plus some additional weeks during busy school holiday periods (to be agreed at interview/offer stage)
Salary: Scale 3 Point 6 - £20,079 per annum based on term-time only working + remuneration for any agreed additional weeks during holidays
We are seeking an experienced Level 2/3 early years professional with a demonstrable work history of working in a childcare environment to join our Nursery team, working from 11.30am to 2.50pm. Initially working with children aged between 2 and 4 years, you will provide safe, high-quality education and provision for the young children in your care. Duties will include acting as a keyworker for a small group of children, providing exceptional care, liaising closely with parents/carers and ensuring each child's needs are recognised and met, teaching children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulation, helping to set up and tidy away at the end of the session, attending meetings and training courses as appropriate, and undertaking any other reasonable duties as directed by the room lead.
In addition, the postholder will also lead the extended provision from 3.10pm to 6.30pm, which is also based in our wonderful Nursery. The extended provision covers our daycare (babies and toddlers aged 3 months-2 years), extended nursery hours (children aged 2-4 years) and after-school club (children aged 4-10 years). The post holder will be responsible for the smooth running of all areas of the extended provision; however the emphasis will be on the children within our Early Years.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the needs of each child are fully met, ensuring their safety at all times, ensuring that accurate records are kept and communicated efficiently and effectively with parents, engaging with the babies and children in aspects of play and conversation, setting up activities for the children to take part in and meeting and greeting parents and providing them with feedback on their child's time at the club.
The post holder will ensure that all staff in the team strictly adhere to the School's Safeguarding Policy and Procedures at all times.
The successful candidate should be confident in working with babies and children, planning and leading activities, enjoy leading a team and possess the following skills and attributes:
- Hold a full and relevant Early Years Level 2/3 qualification;
- Hold a current 12 hour Paediatric First Aid qualification (desirable);
- Have previous experience of working with babies and children in a childcare setting;
- Be enthusiastic and organised with excellent communication skills and be able to use their own initiative (essential);
- Be fun-loving, caring, responsible, compassionate, committed, creative and responsible (essential); and
- Be a flexible team player willing to take on various tasks as required (essential).
