Scale: Essex Pay Scale 3 Point 5 to Scale 4 Point 8 (dependant upon experience)

Salary range: £26,668 to £27,925 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Weeks: 52.14 week per year. This post attracts 25 days paid annual leave (plus Bank Holidays) which should be taken during the school's Christmas closure week, August school closure weeks etc.

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, split shift- 5:20am to 8:50am and 12:30pm to 4:30pm

We are seeking to appoint a Caretaker to join the school's site team, who will take pride in looking after our school, ensuring that we provide a safe, clean and stunning environment in which our children can learn. The ideal candidate will be friendly, hardworking, reliable, self-motivated and set themselves high expectations to ensure the operation of the school's building, grounds and equipment is run to the highest standards. The successful applicant will be supported by senior staff in keeping our school buildings and grounds safe, smart, compliant and fit for providing a high-quality education for our delightful children.

Duties will include:

  • Opening and closing of school site
  • Key holding
  • Liaising with contractors
  • Carrying out routine tests to meet legal compliance i.e. testing of water temperatures, fire extinguishers etc
  • Carrying out a range of building maintenance, first line repairs and DIY duties, ensuring our buildings and grounds are secure and well maintained with a high standard of appearance
  • Preparing the school premises and site for out of school activities, including replenishing stock
  • Manual handling of deliveries, checking them off and reporting any shortfall
  • Litter picking
  • Overseeing and supporting the school's cleaners
  • Keeping the outside area tidy including sweeping and minor gardening (overseeing grounds maintenance team)
  • The successful applicant will be a valued team member of this wonderful new School and Nursery and supported by the Trust Estates and Facilities Manager.
