Job Details:

We are seeking a reliable and confident Senior Exam Invigilator to oversee the smooth and secure running of external written and online examinations. This is an important role that ensures exams are conducted in strict accordance with Awarding Body regulations and College policies, helping us uphold the highest standards of integrity and fairness..

Duties & Responsibilities
As a Senior/Lead Invigilator, you will:

  • Take responsibility for the supervision and direction of invigilation staff within the main examination halls.
  • Prepare exam rooms in line with examination board requirements, including setting out desks, distributing papers and stationery, or setting up laptops for online assessments.
  • Deliver official announcements, special instructions and erratum notices to candidates.
  • Check and verify student identification and complete registers, attendance records, late arrival logs and other required documentation.
  • Maintain a calm, alert presence throughout examinations to prevent malpractice and support candidates who may be stressed, unwell or require additional assistance.
  • Clear and collect all examination materials at the end of each session and return them to the Examinations Office.
  • Support additional duties where required, including supervision of small groups during breaks for candidates with exam clashes, and assisting with the checking, sorting or packing of completed scripts.

Qualifications

  • Good standard of general education.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Ability to work within strict rules and regulations.
  • Capacity to understand and apply Awarding Body Instructions for the Conduct of Examinations.
  • Willingness to take responsibility for groups of examination candidates.

Skills & Attributes

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to act with tact and diplomacy.
  • Flexible and able to work effectively under pressure.
  • Highly motivated, proactive and resilient with a positive, enthusiastic approach.
  • Strong team player, able to work collaboratively.

Desirable:

Previous invigilation experience in a school or college setting.
Confident speaking to large groups of candidates.
