We are looking for a dedicated Governorto join our supportive and collaborative team. We are seeking someone with professional experience, gained in any sector, who is passionate about the role that education can play in changing the lives of young people. Our governors are from a range of backgrounds and work closely with the school leadership team, they are responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, policies, and overall performance of our school.
The most important qualities for any governor are a commitment to the welfare and achievement of the children, a desire to make a positive contribution to the school, common sense, and a willingness to commit time to the role. Many of the functions of the governing body are statutory or have a legal framework. To carry out our core strategic roles, governors need to be able to think strategically, challenge, monitor, but also support.
Governors need not be experts in the field of education. What they do need is an interest in the school and in the welfare of its pupils, together with the time and willingness to get involved. Governors also need 'soft skills' - the ability to be able to build relationships with a range of people, to be able to work as part of a team, to be able to question, and to make connections between different types of information.
Serving as Governor gives excellent experience of strategic leadership and oversight into how organisations are managed. If you are looking for pathways into leadership, being a Governor will provide you with the experiences to understand budget management, health and safety protocols, stakeholder management and much more.
If you would like to find out more about how you can contribute to governance at our school, or have any questions, then please contact the Chair of Governors,Michael Simmonds via email admin@priory..essex.sch.uk
