We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic SENDCO to lead our provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities in our friendly primary school. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference by ensuring every child receives the support they need to succeed.
Alongside your SENDCO responsibilities, you will teach for one day per week, maintaining a strong connection with our pupils and the curriculum.
Main purpose
The SENDCO, under the direction of the headteacher, will:
- Determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision in the school
- Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability
- Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and carers, and other agencies
The SENCO will be expected to fulfil the responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in the STPCD.
While the SENDCO will have responsibility for the oversight of provision for pupils with SEN or a disability, class teachers will hold responsibility for the day-to-day education and support of pupils within their classroom.
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds the National Award for SEN Coordination.
- Has experience supporting pupils with SEND in a primary setting.
- Is an excellent communicator and team player.
- Brings enthusiasm and commitment to inclusive education.
Why join us?
- Supportive leadership team and collaborative staff culture.
- Opportunities for professional development.
- A chance to make a meaningful difference every day.
If you're passionate about helping every child reach their full potential and want to be part of a caring, committed team, we'd love to hear from you!
Visits to the school are strongly encouraged-please contact the school office to arrange a time.
