Dear Colleague,
Re: Full Time Teacher - 1 Year Fixed Term Contract
We are delighted that you are considering coming to join our team as a maternity cover teacher for one of our Year 5/6 classes. As you apply for the post, we encourage you to contact us to arrange an informal conversation with me or our Deputy Headteacher - this can be during a visit to our school, by telephone or through Teams. We also suggest that you visit our website. You are welcome to contact me, directly, via head.stosyth@dcvst.org .
Our wonderful team of staff all work together to help children flourish in every way. This is reflected in
Strong academic progress because children make very good progress from their starting points.
An exciting curriculum which offers children great learning opportunities in and out of school. These opportunities include two different residential trips, local trips to Colchester Zoo and Castle and themed days in school.
Our children's strong development in PE, supported by our Sports Lead. Our Sports Lead also leads our Forest School provision.
The work of our pupil groups - School Council, Play Leaders, Prefects, Worship Leaders and Team Captains.
Exceptional pastoral care, SEND provision and inclusive practice.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic teacher to come and join our friendly team and inspire our children. Early Careers Teachers (ECT) and experienced teachers are equally encouraged to apply. We provide all teachers with a wide range of professional development opportunities. If you become part of our team then you will be joining one that works hard for the good of all our children, supports one another and enjoys plenty of laughs, free tea and coffee, chocolates and 'chippy Fridays'!
This post is for a January 2026 start. Salary will be paid according to appropriate experience and qualifications. If you are an ECT we will provide you with good support as you start doing the best job in the world. If you're more experienced, then please talk to us about subject leadership and support and development opportunities we can offer you.
We have a rural/coastal location about twenty minutes from Colchester and ten minutes from Clacton-on-Sea. We benefit from being an academy within the Diocese of Chelmsford Vine Schools Trust so have the support of the trust and of the diocese.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of our children and all staff share this commitment. This post will be subject to an enhanced DBS Disclosure, suitable references and a pre-employment medical check.

We look forward to hearing from you.
