Learning Support Assistant

Job Description

At de Vere, we believe that children with SEND are an asset not an obstacle. To support us in ensuring our whole school feel this, we are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA)to join our dedicated team, supporting pupils, some of whom have complex needs, including those with communication difficulties. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and eager to make a real difference in children's learning and development in a varied role. It is a term-time position, 21 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

Support individual pupils and small groups across the curriculum, including delivering structured interventions.
Confidently lead small group and whole-class sessions under the direction of the class teacher.
Provide high-quality support to children with a range of complex needs, promoting independence and positive outcomes.
Carry out midday assistant (MDA) duties, ensuring a safe and supportive lunchtime experience.
Work closely with the SENCO, teaching staff, and external professionals throughout the school to implement personalised learning plans.

The ideal candidate will:

Have experience working with children with complex needsand speech and language difficulties.
Be confident in leading small group activities and class sessions.
Demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and strong organisational skills.
Show patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude to supporting learning.
Work well as part of a team, but also use initiative when working independently.
Have a sense of fun.
