Philip Morant School and College was judged as "Good" in all areas by Ofsted in September 2023. We are looking for an Assistant SENDCowho can be a key part in our ongoing improvement journey.

Living and breathing our vision and values starts from interview day, with every applicant welcomed by the Headteacher. From there every member of staff is part of a strong team and support and opportunity is always available.

Our SEN team comprises of twenty staff members in varying roles within the department. The team is determined to offer individualised support for students with a wide range of SEN needs. The successful candidate will be supported to develop their skills within the role. The role will give the successful candidate a greater breath and understanding of leading a SEN team in large secondary school and post sixteen provision.

  • The successful candidate will work 37 hours per week (8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday to Thursday 8:00 - 3:30pm Friday)
  • This is a 39-week-per-year role, which includes term time and non-pupil days

A Day in the Life:

You'll be responsible for bringing your passion and expertise to the following areas:

  • One Plan Review meetings
  • EHCP Annual reviews
  • Corresponding as necessary with external agencies and parents and staff
  • Mentoring SEND Students
  • Coordinating and running interventions such as ELSA, Forest school, Autistic and OK!
  • Interacting with and supporting students according to individual educational needs

  • Experience of and a passion for supporting students with SEND needs within school
  • Ability to use initiative and work without direct supervision, taking responsibility for tasks
