Think you can spot great teaching at 100 paces? We are looking for a Science teacher at The Deanes....

However, for a candidate with some experience who is looking for a new challenge, then there is an opportunity to spend a day a week as aSEEAT SLE for Science.In this role, we're looking for someone who can roll up their sleeves and get stuck in, someone who can make people feel both supported and challenged.

You'll work across our schools with senior leaders and teachers to drive improvement, share what works, and help build a culture where everyone keeps getting better.

For the SLE role you will need:

A strong track record of making real improvements in your own school(s)
A willingness to try, reflect, refine, and try again - and get others to do the same
Excellent people skills - you need to be someone who can make people feel both supported and challenged
The flexibility to go with the flow - school improvement can be messy

Purpose:
To plan and prepare lessons to a high standard, using a variety of delivery methods which will stimulate student learning (appropriate to needs and demands of specifications taught).
To set and mark work, including homework in accordance with the school Marking and Feedback Policy.
To be fully involved in the monitoring process.
To encourage a learning experience which provides all students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
To assess, record and report on students' progress and attainment, maintaining accurate and appropriate records.
To prepare students for examinations, internal and external, including assessment and recording of accurate data.
To carry out appropriate administrative tasks
To ensure that ICT, Literacy, Numeracy and SMSC are reflected in the teaching/learning of students.
To manage behaviour appropriately in line with the School Behaviour Policy.
To have high expectations from all students.

The Deanes is a small secondary school where each and every one of our students can feel happy, respected and known as an individual within our safe and accepting community. We aim to create a positive and respectful environment for all members of The Deanes, with consistently high expectations and standards. Our curriculum caters for individual strengths and needs, enabling every student to make outstanding progress and provide them with extensive opportunities for personal development.

The well-being of our staff is a high priority. All staff at The Deanes have access to high quality training to further develop their teaching practice. Staff can take advantage of free gym membership and we are fortunate to have an onsite children’s nursery which may be able to accommodate your childcare needs.

In September 2021 the school joined the South East Essex Academy Trust, which comprises 8 local primary and secondary schools, who form a collaborative multi academy trust.

The Deanes is well situated in South East Essex, with good links to public transport. We are situated within ten minutes of Benfleet and Rayleigh Rail Stations, where a 45 minute train journey will take you into London. There is also ample car parking onsite.
