An exciting opportunity for a Part-time Level 3 Practitioner to join our dynamic team at The Duckling Nursery.

Tuesday Mornings - 8.30pm - 1.30pm - 5 hours per week + Overtime

Purpose of post

Ensure all children are safeguarded and their welfare and safety is promoted.
Contribute a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all

children in the nursery.
Give support to other team members throughout the nursery.
Work as part of a team to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, learn and develop.

Duties and responsibilities
Follow the nursery safeguarding procedure to ensure all children are kept safe, well and secure.
Contribute to a programme of activities that meet the individual needs and interests of children in conjunction with other team members.
Keep records of children's development and learning journeys and share these with parents, carers and other key adults in the child's life.
Engage in good team working.
Liaise with and support parents and other family members.
Attend staff meetings training days and regular supervisions.
Attend out of working hours activities, e.g. training, fundraising events.
Be flexible within working practices of the nursery.Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the nursery, e.g. preparation of snacks, meals, cleaning.
Work alongside the Manager and staff team to ensure that the nursery's vision is fulfilled.
Read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role as deemed appropriate by the Manager.
Record accidents on tapestry. Ensure the Manager or Deputy Manager has seen the report before the parent signs it.
Look upon the nursery as a "whole" to consider where your skills can be best utilised. Be constantly aware of the individual needs of all children.
Be dedicated to continued professional development and be reflective about how practices within the nursery can be improved.
Ensure someone known and agreed by the nursery and parent collects the child.
Respect the confidentiality of all information received.

Specific childcare tasks
Prepare and complete activities to suit each individual child's stage of development and interests.
Develop your role within the team.
Ensure that mealtimes are a time of calm social sharing.
Wash and change children as required.
Ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are always maintained.
Ensure a poorly child is treated appropriately and management is notified immediately.
Develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents and carers to facilitate day-to-day caring and early learning needs.
Contribute to a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children regardless of any disabilities, family backgrounds or medical history.
Be aware of the community profile of the nursery and uphold its standards at all times, both within work hours and outside.

Training expectations

Willing and able to undertake:
Paediatric first aid training
Level 2 or 3 safeguarding training
FGM and Prevent training
Training in the care of children aged 0-2
Training to develop own areas of interest within the nursery identified in supervision meetings.

We are a term time only Nursery for children aged 2-4 years plus breakfast and after school club for Writtle Infant and Junior Schools. We are dedicated to safeguarding the children and families in our care as a top priority. Located on the site of Writtle Infant School, we have strong links with the Infant and Junior community and they in turn use our breakfast and after school club. We are passionate about outside learning and have dedicated much time and effort on creating a fabulous enabling environment for children's play.
