Details

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and efficient Design and Technology Technician to provide comprehensive technician support service to staff and students undertaking the Design and Technology curriculum.

Duties will include but not limited to oversee and maintain effective systems for the D & T workshops. Preparing equipment and teaching areas for practical classes. Previous experience in a similar position would be beneficial and will preferably have experience of doing so in a school environment, although this is not essential.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

To identify, plan and co-ordinate health and safety training requirements within the workshop and maintain H&S records.
Ensure procedures are followed; supporting teaching staff and pupils in the safe use of equipment during lessons.
carrying out administrative and other functions related to the smooth running of the department.
To manage departmental equipment and materials, ensuring stock levels are maintained.
Maintenance and routine inspections of equipment and liaise with caretaking staff as required. To work in collaboration with the Head of Department to ensure risk assessments are carried out.
Proven IT skills including Word and Excel
Proven track record of working within a busy environment

Information about the School

Our school is making rapid progress since its inspection in November 2022. A recent review by the Local Authority commented on the ‘sea change’ noted in students’ behaviour and the culture and ethos of the school. Our 2023 outcomes were the best set of Key Stage 4 results achieved by Year 11 students since 2016. Our Year 7 intake continues to be oversubscribed, with a waiting list.
