St. Teresa's is a warm and welcoming school where we focus on doing little things with great love. We are seeking to appoint a committed and capable Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team for two days per week on a temporary basis, from the 3rd November initially until Easter 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled practitioner who enjoys supporting children across the primary phase and is confident in leading whole-class teaching. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to deliver high-quality learning in line with our inclusive, child-centred approach.
This role may be ideal for someone who holds QTS but does not wish to take on the full responsibility or workload of a class teacher, and who would thrive in a supportive, team-led environment.
This is a temporary, term-time only role for two days per week, supporting planned teacher release time and curriculum coverage across the school.
You might be the person we're looking for if you:
- Have HLTA status (or equivalent), with recent experience leading whole-class learning
- Hold QTS (desirable, but not required)
- Are confident and flexible, able to adapt quickly across year groups and curriculum areas
- Build strong relationships with children and work well as part of a team
- Share our Catholic ethos and want to contribute to a loving, values-led school
- Enjoy fostering curiosity, independence and high expectations
We can offer:
- A welcoming and values-driven school community rooted in care, faith, and inclusion
- Engaged, well-behaved pupils who love to learn
- A supportive and forward-thinking staff team
- Opportunities to work across a range of key stages
- A school committed to staff well-being, development and teamwork
At St. Teresa's, we serve a beautifully diverse school community and warmly welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds and experiences. We are committed to building a team that reflects and celebrates the diversity of our children and families.
We are committed to safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Following safer recruitment procedures an appointment will be subject to satisfactory references, medical checks and enhanced DBS clearance.
Visits to the school are encouraged and warmly welcome. For further details please contact the school office via e mail on personnel@st-teresas.essex.sch.uk
