Role:Reading Tutor

Contract:Fixed Term until 31st July 2026

Hours:37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time plus inset days)

Salary:Scale 5 Points 9-12 £26409 - £27711 FTE (Actual Salary £22640 - £23756)

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Reading Tutor to lead targeted reading intervention sessions for students who have been identified as reading below their chronological age. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing tailored support and strategies to improve students' literacy skills. Alongside one-to-one literacy intervention, we seek someone who is able to support individual students with SEND in their lessons. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual to make a real difference in the lives of students by leading targeted reading intervention sessions and supporting their journey toward improved literacy skills.

Duties involved:

Assessment: Conduct assessments to identify students' reading levels and areas requiring improvement.
Intervention: Plan and deliver targeted intervention sessions focusing on reading improvement strategies using the Thinking Reading programme of study.
Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student progress and development, collaborating with the Lead Practitioner in English

Information about the School

The Boswells School is a large 11-18 secondary school that serves the area of north Chelmsford. The school is an extremely popular, over-subscribed convertor academy that enjoys an excellent reputation in the local and wider community. We were graded ‘Good’ in every area by OFSTED in February 2017 and are working towards our goal of becoming a truly great school.
