St. Francis Catholic Primary School is a warm, welcoming one-form entry Catholic school in the heart of Braintree. We are dedicated to providing exceptional education and a nurturing environment for our children.
We are very proud of our buildings and grounds and they are often commented on and praised by visitors to the school. The staff and children appreciate that they work in a well maintained and safe school and show respect to the facilities. Due to retirement of the current holder, we seeking an exceptional Site Manager to join our dedicated team and play a crucial role in maintaining these high standards within our school environment.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Management
- Respond as key holder to out-of-hours alarm calls
- Open the school gates each afternoon for the parents
- Lock up and alarm the school buildings at 5.30pm daily (we do not have evening lettings)
- Independently organise and manage daily, weekly and termly work schedule
- Oversee routine cleaning and manage cleaning team
- Order cleaning products and maintain equipment
- Operate and maintain heating and water systems and report to Leadership team
- Conduct regular Health and Safety compliance checkson school systems
Maintenance and Repairs
- Perform first-line repairs including plumbing, redecoration, and minor internal/external building work
- Support senior leadership in the planning and delivery of small building and grounds maintenance and alterations
- Monitor and quality-check projects from external contractors and suppliers (ie fire safety, alarms, electrical, wider plumbing)
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in facilities management, building maintenance or similar role
- Strong practical skills in maintenance and repair
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Current Health and Safety knowledge
- Excellent communication skills (to staff, parents and children)
Desirable Qualities
- Previous experience in an educational setting
- Basic trade qualifications
- Proactive approach to maintenance and problem-solving
- Commitment to creating a safe learning environment
What We Offer
- Salary: Local Government Pay Scale 6 Point 13
- 20 hours a week (1.30pm - 5.30pm Monday to Friday) For the right candidate, the hours would be very open to negotiation
- This post could also work with the 12.5 hours cleaner post that we are currently advertising and again can be negotiated
- 52 weeks a year with paid annual leave (to be taken in school holidays)
