Essex County Council are recruiting for the below Travel Trainer -1 x Full Time Travel Trainer - Tendring, working in Clacton-on-Sea and surrounding areas.
Travel Trainer- This role focuses on achieving positive outcomes for young people and adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities within the Tendring area, supporting them in becoming safe independent travellers and enabling them to live richer, more fulfilling lives. You will support young people on a 1-2-1 basis to train them on how to access public transport on designated routes such as their home to school journey.
Role responsibilities will include:
- Deliver travel training to school age children and adults on a 1:1 basis
- Visiting young people and adults in their homes
- Develop bespoke training plans for each client, considering their additional needs and complexities of the route
- Provide ongoing feedback to the trainee and referrer
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing and new organisations
- Attend events
- Support the wider travel training team where applicable

What you will bring
- Educated to 'A' level / NVQ level 3 within a relevant sector, plus 5 GCSE's A-C (new GCSE 4-9) including English and Maths, or equivalent experience in the field.
- Experience within an SEN or adult social care setting is essential, and you should be able to evidence your passion, energy, and enthusiasm for working within this sector.
- Excellent communicator.
- Motivated to instil confidence in others whilst building strong rapport.
- Highly organised, able to manage your workload efficiently, with good IT skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Please note that the job role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area. Therefore, the post holder will need to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle.
