Rickling Church of England (VA) Primary School is seeking to appoint a Catering Assistant to support the school catering team in preparing, serving, and clearing away meals, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming dining environment for pupils and staff. You'll help provide nutritious, balanced meals and promote a positive lunchtime experience for children aged 4-11.
This is a part time position Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 10:30- 12:30. Term Time only - 38 weeks per year.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of meals, salads, and desserts as directed by the Catering Manager.
- Serve food to pupils and staff in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Set up and clear down the dining area, including laying out tables, and serving stations.
- Wash up kitchen equipment, utensils, and tableware, maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Follow all food hygiene, health, and safety regulations, including the correct use of cleaning materials and equipment.
- Help receive and store deliveries safely and appropriately.
- Report any kitchen equipment faults or safety concerns to the Catering Supervisor promptly.
- Engage with children in a polite and supportive way, helping to encourage good table manners and a positive dining experience.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Friendly, approachable, and reliable.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Good communication skills, particularly with children.
- Awareness of basic food hygiene and health & safety procedures (training will be provided if needed).
- Willingness to undertake relevant training.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a catering or kitchen environment.
- Food hygiene certificate level 2
