Learning Support Assistant

Required:September 2025

Type of contract: Fixed term (September 2025 - August 2026)

Hours: 32.5 hours per week term time only

Scale:3, points 5 to 6

Pro Rata Salary: £19,651 (includes inner fringe allowance)

Dr Walker's is a small rural school in Fyfield. We wish to appoint a suitably skilled and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our friendly staff team. Previous experience in working with children of primary age is essential and an appropriate qualification at NVQ 2/3 (or equivalent) is required.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in working on a one-to-one basis with pupils with complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

We invite applications from committed candidates who will take pride in their work and bring with them the following skills:

●Experience working with children as a teaching assistant, including those with Special Educational Needs and/or English as an Additional Language

●A working knowledge of the curriculum

●An understanding of how children develop and learn

●Good English, Maths and ICT skills

●The ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative

Dr Walker’s Church of England Primary School is a small village Voluntary Controlled community school, in the heart of Fyfield, Ongar. We might be small, but have a lot to offer!

We are a creative school, where pupils are supported to become the best they can be. Pupils access the curriculum through additional fun activities such as dressing up days, hatching ducks, circus workshops, visiting zoo, residentials, initiatives, etc. and where appropriate participation in sporting events with local schools. The school has had a number of improvements over the last few years, inclusive of: • The building of two new classrooms (with aircon) • new playground multi-sports markings • multi-sports goalposts • an adventure trail • classrooms have been re-decorated • new access to KS2 classrooms • EYFS has had a make-over (inside and out!) and • new fencing to secure the school’s main entrance.
