Behaviour Support Teachers - Exciting New School opportunity!
Olive Academy, North View is a brand new SEMH provision due to open in September 2025. We aim for nothing but the best in support of our learners and our mission is to be transformational. Our model is deeply rooted in making progress that is meaningful for learners and their families.
The successful candidates will be professionals who recognise the importance of doing things differently to ensure learners achieve and enjoy life.
We are looking for Behaviour Support Teachers who can recognise the unique contributions of our learners, demonstrate initiative and contribute great ideas towards their lives.
As a class teacher at Olive Academy, North View, you will be a member of a small daring and dynamic team and work closely with a diverse team of education and health professionals.
This is a challenging role which will be demanding in terms of thinking outside the box and coming up with brave and creative solutions. However, support will be there when you need it. We offer the chance to shape a role and to be involved with something very special.
We are looking forward to welcoming new professionals to our team. This post is suitable for newly qualified or experienced teachers, and we will offer support teachers new to this phase of education.

About OA - North View
Just forty minutes from central London by train, OA - North View is a brand new SEMH provision, which is due to open in September 2025. This school will support up to 30 learners with social, emotional and mental health needs, providing a broad and balanced curriculum.
Alongside this, we will also offer bespoke support for our pupils' mental health and wellbeing and help for pupils to understand themselves and their emotions. We will be driven by a fully-inclusive philosophy and we want to empower our learners to realise their full potential so that they can take their space successfully in the wider community. We will:
• give pupils real-world experiences
• deliver outstanding learning and teaching
• offer rigorous and high-quality critique and feedback of pupils' work
• develop dynamic leadership - including staff and pupil leadership
• maintain a culture of respect
• create a pathway to post-16 education, employment or training

We are looking for Behaviour Support teachers who are passionate about supporting young people who have faced multiple barriers to their learning in a mainstream setting. The successful candidates will:
· demonstrate they can contribute to the development of a dynamic curriculum, which will both engage pupils and be adaptable to their specific needs
· deliver the highest quality of teaching, learning and assessment
· inspire pupils through a genuine passion for learning
· be committed to helping pupils overcome disadvantage and improving their wellbeing and life chances
· plan and teach interactive, exciting lessons across a range of subjects within a broad-based curriculum that will engage pupils across the KS2 - KS4 age range using a primary based model of delivery
· share our determination to develop and deliver a broad curriculum
· work collaboratively with colleagues to produce high quality learning resources and plan expeditionary learning activities, for example contributing to the outdoor learning curriculum
· actively contribute to the teaching of functional skills across KS2 - KS4 appropriate to both the age and needs of individual pupils
· link all lessons to the PHSE curriculum, the world of work, British values, and SMSC as appropriate
· use pupil data to inform classroom practice and planning
· regularly assess and give pupils feedback in line with the OA marking and feedback policy
· direct the work of support staff in the classroom to maximise their impact on pupils' learning
· facilitate good progress and positive outcomes - inspire, motivate and challenge our pupils
· set high expectations and maintain a positive and safe learning environment
· using the 'Dare to be Olive' approach to ensure that high expectations for behaviour are maintained
· act on child protection concerns immediately (read, understand, and implement OA's safeguarding policy and procedure, and Keeping Children Safe in Education)
· be a role model to our pupils by showing leadership, resilience, and empathy
· coach a group of pupils and mentoring them through their time at the school
· work with parents, carers, local schools, and outside agencies to ensure each pupil's needs are best met
· fulfil wider professional responsibilities through the application of school systems and procedures
· support the trust's values and ethos by contributing to the development and implementation of policies, practices, and procedures
· work closely with our headteacher, our staff, parents/ carers, and pupils to deliver our strategic vision and help make our ambitious plans for the school a reality

Information about the School
Based in the heart of Thurrock, our academy specialises in alternative provision and supporting the social and emotional educational needs of young people. Olive AP Academy - Thurrock supports up to 94 pupils for whom traditional teaching methods have not worked. Students, ranging in age from 11 to 16, join us following permanent exclusion from a mainstream school or due to having medical needs that prevent them from attending a mainstream setting.
Our academy is a nurturing, inclusive community where students are able to grow and develop. We strive to ensure success for all our learners academically, socially and morally. We build a curriculum around the needs of our students and are proud that our Year 11 students leave with qualifications on par with their mainstream peers and transition into education, training or employment.
Having a working beauty salon, kitchen and hospitality area, construction area, science laboratory and fitness suite onsite allows for a hands-on approach to the curriculum and the development of transferable skills for the future.
Alongside our ever-growing curriculum, we offer our students additional qualifications in non-traditional subjects such as sailing, climbing, extreme mountain biking, bushcraft and first aid.
All students receive therapeutic support and this can range from a set or personalised programme, counselling, speech and language intervention or small group activities around self-worth and wellbeing.
We pride ourself on encouraging positive mental health and wellbeing and are pleased to have received a National Wellbeing Award, which acknowledges the support we provide for staff, students and families.
