Lexden Springs Special School has 300 learners aged 3 - 19 identified with complex educational needs of autism, severe learning difficulties and profound and multiple learning difficulties.
It is the fourth school to join Hope Learning Community. Although the school joined in January 2025, it has been working with Hope Learning Community for several months to enable a smooth transition and to draw on the experience of the Trust.
The school focuses on ensuring learners achieve their potential - academically, socially, emotionally, physically, morally and spiritually. The includes developing learners communication, physical development, confidence and ability to participate in the wider community.
We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and driven Headteacher to join our amazing school and Trust, inspiring excellence and embracing the Trust's vision and values.
The Trust Board seek to appoint a new Headteacher who will:
· Establish and sustain the school's ethos and strategic direction together with Trust and through consultation with the school community
· Maintain working relationships with fellow professionals and colleagues to improve educational outcomes for all pupils
· Create a culture where pupils experience a positive and enriching school life
· Uphold ambitious educational standards in order to prepare pupils from all backgrounds for their next phase of education and life
· Uphold public trust in school leadership and maintain high standards of ethics, behaviour and professional conduct
· Establish and oversee systems, processes and policies so the school can operate effectively
· Effectively line manage the Residential Provision Leader and ensure a seamless link between the education and residential
· Identify problems and barriers to school effectiveness, and develop strategies for school improvement that are realistic, timely and suited to the school's context
· Monitor progress towards achieving the school's aims and objectives
· Demonstrate strong knowledge of working with neurodiverse children and is able to extend this experience to support and guide staff
· Make sure the school fulfils statutory duties regarding the SEND Code of Practice.
· Ensure staff have access to appropriate, evidenced based, high quality professional development opportunities
· Ensure staff and pupils' safety and welfare through effective approaches to safeguarding, as part of a duty of care

Hope Learning Community is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The Headteacher will be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all children for whom they are responsible, or with whom they come into contact, in accordance with the Trust's Safeguarding Policy. The successful candidate will be required to complete a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) application, medical checks and references.
