Job Title: SEND provision Teacher

Salary: MPR / UPS

Contract type: Fixed Term for One Year

Reporting to: Headteacher / SENDCo

Start date: 22nd April 2025

Maylandsea Primary School is excited to be in a position to appoint a qualified teacher with experience of teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) for a new opportunity at the school. The new role is to provide delivery of teaching and learning to pupils in our new SEND hub provision and to promote a culture that embraces and supports pupils with Special Educational Needs. The Teacher will be directly reporting and accountable to the SENDCo, who is the leading professional in the school for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.

The role will include:

· Providing day-to-day delivery of outstanding practice to pupils with SEND

· Continually supporting progress through improvement in standards by adapting teaching and learning across the year groups

· Ensure the effective implementation of the curriculum for the overall development of, and to ensure the wellbeing, of the individual learner

· To observe, assess and create plans for students with SEND

· To promote and develop learner accessibility and wellbeing

· To advise and consult with professionals in and for annual reviews, referrals and One plan meeting

· Structure the day-to-day function of the school always considering all learners and their needs

· To promote equality, diversity and inclusion and demonstrate this within the role, adhering to the Equal Opportunities Policy and Code of Practice

· Comply with and support the implementation of all school policies

· To adhere to Health & Safety Policies and ensure all tasks are carried out with due regard to Health and Safety

· To work with due regard to confidentiality and the principles of Data Protection, encouraging others to do the same

· Manage and organise the school environment effectively to ensure that the safeguarding of children and young people with SEND is given high priority

· Create an ethos within which all staff are motivated and supported to develop their skills and knowledge

· Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and carers as appropriate

· Contribute to paperwork for annual reviews, referrals and One Plan meetings

Other areas of responsibility:

The Therapy Teacher will be required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, and follow and implement school policies and the staff code of conduct. Please note that this is illustrative of the general nature and level of responsibility of the role. It is not a comprehensive list of all tasks that the Therapy Teacher will carry out. The postholder may be required to do other duties appropriate to the level of the role, as directed by the Headteacher or SENDCo.
