SEN Learning Support Assistant

27.5 hours per week

Term time only, fixed term to 31st August 2025 (extension subject to additional SEN Funding)

Scale 3, Point range 5 to 6

Actual salary between £15,845 and £16,274 per annum (includes outer fringe)

We are seeking to appoint a caring individual to support children with complex needs. You would be required to support the child's needs in order to enable them to access and participate in school life and make educational progress. The role would also involve working with other children in the class setting. You must be able to demonstrate your ability to act on your own initiative and work within a team. You will need to be able to understand individual needs and follow advice and plans from specialists.

You will need to:

  • Have gained GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths
  • Experience of working with children with SEND is desirable, e.g. NVQ in Learning Support, but full training for the specific position will be provided
  • Be a positive, supportive and caring practitioner
  • Have very high expectations for learning and behaviour
  • Have the ability to work as part as a team, be flexible, solutions focused and good humoured
  • Be knowledgeable of child development
  • It is also desirable for you to have:
  • Level 2 or 3 teaching assistant qualification
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a school
  • Experience of adapting the curriculum for pupils with SEND
  • Knowledge of successful strategies to engage pupils with specific and significant needs
